Interstate Commission on the Potomac River Basin
What do we strive for?
ICPRB staff participates in regional efforts to develop regulatory water quality criteria that protect healthy biological communities and their habitats. Biological Goals are the desired outcomes of coordinated resource management and collective action. Biological Criteria are the regulatory thresholds or standards used by governments to determine if an aquatic community is or is not impaired.
- Stream Health Outcome: Development of the 2008 baseline and the index’s use as CBP Stream Health Indicator
- Chlorophyll a Criteria: Chlorophyll a concentrations that are used to set regulatory thresholds and numeric criteria protective of balanced, healthy phytoplankton
