Fish Restoration
Interstate Commission on the Potomac River Basin
The following studies involve fish population restoration in the Potomac River basin:
- The Little Falls Fishway and American Shad Restoration: Construction of fishway was instrumental in restoring American Shad in the Potomac River.
- Anacostia River Herring Restoration: In the early 2000’s, fertilized eggs were collected alewife and blueback herring returning to the Anacostia and incubated in a hatchery. Hatched larvae were released to the Anacostia River and Rock Creek.
