We’re excited to invite you to join the Goose Creek Association for our annual Canoe Cleanup! This is a fantastic opportunity to enjoy the beauty of Goose Creek while making a positive impact on our environment. Here are the details:

What: A canoe trip, stream cleanup, and lunch on Goose Creek

When: Saturday, September 28th, 2024, from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM
Where We’ll Meet: Meet us where Foxcroft Road crosses Goose Creek, in the field through the gate at the southwest corner of the bridge. The gate opens at 8:30 AM, and vans will leave promptly at 9:00 AM. Please arrive with time to spare! Click here for GPS coordinates. Signs will be posted to guide you to parking.

What to Expect:
• We’ll start our day at 9:00 AM, where vans will transport us to our launch site, roughly 5 miles upstream.
• The cleanup will involve 40 participants in 20 canoes, as we paddle downstream, enjoying the scenery and picking up any trash we find along the way.
• The trip will last approximately 3 hours, and lunch will be provided once we return to the parking area.

Important Things to Note:
• The water in Goose Creek may be low, so be prepared to get a little wet as we navigate shallow areas.
• We’ll be canoeing through remote areas with no cell phone reception, so this is a great chance to unplug and connect with nature.
• Participation is free, but all participants will be required to sign a release form.

PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE YOU REGISTER

The water in Goose Creek will likely be low, requiring participants to get out of their canoes, get wet and walk or drag their canoes through any stretches too shallow to float. If you are not comfortable with your ability to walk or drag a canoe through rushing water over a rocky, uneven creek bottom, this trip may not be for you!

Please also be aware we will be canoeing through areas with no cell phone reception, no bathrooms and without ready access to roads and/or emergency medical services.

This event is for individuals age 12 and over.

The event may need to be rescheduled due to low water in the river. If so, we will notify you in advance of the event.
